Maren Herman, LPC
LPC, MSIMH, EMDR trained
Licensed therapist helping parents, children, teens, and trauma survivors rewrite old patterns.
Introduction
You’ve been carrying something for a long time — maybe something that happened to you, maybe patterns you inherited, maybe both. Part of you knows it’s shaping how you parent, how you relate, how you see yourself. You don’t have to keep carrying it the same way.
My Approach
I can’t shake the teacher in me — I believe understanding why you relate to the world the way you do is powerful. Once you connect your past to your present self, it gets a lot easier to be compassionate with yourself and lean into your strengths. Sessions with me feel like an honest, curious conversation about what’s shaping your experience — the good and the hard parts of being human.
I especially love working with parents — moms and dads working through their own histories so their children can benefit — as well as teens and young adults figuring out what they want for their future, and individuals carrying significant trauma. Helping someone finally feel relief from something they’ve carried for years is some of the most meaningful work I do.
After our first session, I want you to feel heard, seen, and validated and to leave with a real sense of connection and relief. I believe every challenge exists for a reason, shaped by something in a person’s life, and that we’re all doing our best with what we know. Learning new ways to relate to the world is how we start to feel better.
I think of myself as a kind of conduit — a steady presence between where you are now and the changes you’re hoping to make, giving you room to explore a new way of being in the world. And if it helps, you don’t have to tell me the details of what happened to you to find relief. I’m trained and certified in EMDR, trained in Progressive Counting, and I’ve helped many clients reduce distress without ever needing to relive the story out loud, unless you want to.
When you’re ready to start, I’m here — and we’ll go at your pace.
